IMPACT AND RESULTS |
OF OUR PROGRAM
FROM VICTIM TO PEACE PROMOTER
Survivors who were former victims and victimizers have broken the bonds of victimhood, are now the leaders who facilitate the integration of victims to our program.
Victims of the war who have regularly attended Agape’s activities have spontaneously informed us that they have overcome their condition of victims and they identify themselves as Peace Promoters. Agape has followed up and documented this healing process.
PEACE PROMOTERS PROGRAM AND SOCIODRAMAS
Former victims and victimizers have designed and presented sociodramas. These short theatre pieces represent aspects of the experience of victims as well as the ways in which they have overcome that condition. These presentations have an intense emotional impact and Agape has searched and facilitated venues for these presentations that are followed by conversations with the audience. These presentations have contributed to the sensitization of audiences of different sectors of society.
Thousands of people have benefited from our program. Victims and their families have found a secure space and a source of support where they can share their struggles and their accomplishments. Other beneficiaries are people from all walks of life who have attended the presentations of the Peace Promoters and the conversations that follow. For many, this has been the first opportunity to become acquainted with the challenges faced by those most directly affected by war.
BUILDING COMMUNITY AND STRENGTHENING THE SOCIAL FABRIC
Agape’s program has contributed to the creation of lasting bonds where victims, victimizers and members of civil society have come together in search of reconciliation and peace.
Since its inception in 2006, Agape has conducted its programs thanks to the efforts of a group of Colombian volunteers, many of them victims and refugees of the conflict and reside either in Colombia or in Canada. These devoted volunteers donate their time and effort to collect funds and organize activities in benefit of the victims of the war. The totality of the funds collected are devoted to finance our programs.
